Six side channel blowers make up the DBD series from Atlas Copco. Their pumping speed ranges from 91 to 515 m³/h. The units are of two-stage design, operate with one impeller and can be used for vacuum as well as for overpressure.
In a side channel blower, the impeller accelerates the air several times in a ring-shaped channel without any components touching in the pumping chamber. Compression is therefore oil-free and requires little maintenance. Owing to the two-stage design, DBD blowers achieve higher pressure differences than single-stage types of the same size; they are used, for example, on vacuum tables, in packaging or for pneumatic conveying.
