The GLS series from Atlas Copco comprises two rotary piston vacuum pumps. The GLS 250 has a pumping speed of 234 m³/h, the GLS 500 442 m³/h. An ultimate pressure of 0.033 mbar is specified for both.
Rotary piston pumps of this type operate with an eccentrically rotating piston that is sealed against the housing by oil. The design is regarded as robust and also tolerates harsh operating conditions with longer running times. Such pumps are used predominantly in vacuum metallurgy, in heat treatment, in drying plants and as backing pumps for Roots pumps.
