Under the designation NEO D series, Leybold offers oil-lubricated rotary vane vacuum pumps of small to medium size. Five models are available, with a pumping speed of 16 to 63 m³/h. The ultimate pressure is 8 × 10⁻³ mbar throughout.
Inside, an eccentrically mounted rotor turns, whose vanes are pressed against the housing wall by centrifugal force and thus enclose and compress the gas. The oil lubricates, seals the gaps and dissipates heat, which makes pressures in the medium vacuum range achievable. Typical tasks are use as a backing pump in laboratories, analytics and research as well as in coating and drying processes.
